Together with Amundi, the leading European asset manager, and GreenGame, a young consultancy in the field of sustainable sponsoring, Vanessa Heinrich (Chair of Circular Economy) supervised the project studies in the winter semester 2022/23 on the topic of “Tennis and Sustainability”. As a sponsor of various high-profile sporting events (including the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix), Amundi has set itself the goal of transforming the sport of tennis in a long-term and sustainable manner. Especially in the organization and execution of tennis events, high optimization potential could be identified with regard to a reduction of negative environmental impacts and the promotion of diversity.

On 18/01/2023, the students Wiebke Pfefferle, Fernando Cuevas, Patricio Colín and Qiguang Li were able to present their final results on site at Amundi in Munich. Based on discussions with responsible persons as well as intensive research work, short-, medium- and long-term solutions were presented, which have a high potential to make tennis events more sustainable. In addition, the students were able to show ways in which communication with internal and external stakeholders should be designed in order to proactively involve them in transformative efforts so that a holistically sustainable event can be created.
