In his doctoral research, Mattia Maeder investigates circular economy strategies to achieve net zero emissions in the automotive sector.

As an awardee of the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs, he previously analyzed climate neutrality from different angles, while working at the OECD, the consulting firm South Pole, and the think tank adelphi.

Mattia studied Energy Science and Technology (M.Sc.) and Environmental Engineering (B.Sc.) at ETH Zurich. His Master was supported by EIT Climate-KIC. During his studies, he gained professional work experiences in the field of sustainable energy at ETH Zurich, Tesla, the Municipal Electric Utility in Zurich, and swissnex India.
