On September 18-19, the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability Assessment hosted the 5th edition of the Young Researchers Seminar on Sustainable Material Cycles at TUMCS. 14 PhD and PostDoc students from the University of Kassel, University of Augsburg, University of Bayreuth, University of Freiburg, EMPA, and TUM had an exciting exchange about various research topics.
On day 1, presentations and discussions on the topics of graph-based supply chain transparency, plastic circularity in Germany's building and infrastructure sector, a forest-based bioeconomy cluster, plastic film recycling in Germany, MFA of the German wind energy sector, and critical raw material supply from end-of-life vehicles were given.
On day 2, presentations and discussions on the impact of circular economy strategies on the vehicle production in China, the impact of circular economy strategies on the environmental footprint of ceramic matrix composites, LCA of zinc recycling, process simulation and LCA of cathode active material synthesis for lithium-ion batteries, and a multi-loop LCA method in the automotive context were given.
We thank all participants for the exciting research insights and look forward to the 6th edition of the Young Researchers Seminar in 2027 at the University of Kassel.
