In July 2023, two groups of students were able to successfully present their results, which they had developed during the project study in cooperation with BMW and which was supervised by the Chair of Circular Economy.

At TUM, more than 100 researchers from over 30 institutes are addressing these questions as members of Germany’s largest research network, “TUM Mission Network Circular Economy” (CirculaTUM).

While relevant theories and concepts lay the foundation for understanding the subject in the classroom, it is through real-life experiences that we witness the application and intricacies of those principles. With this in mind, Prof. Dr. Magnus Fröhling and Vanessa Heinrich from the Professorship of Circular Economy organized a field trip for students to Munich.

Research project on circular timber frame elements launched
On February 1st, 2023, the Kick-off Meeting for the research project “Timber Use and Maintain – TU&M”, started on January 1st the same year, was held at the Wood Research Institute in Munich. The project aims to develop circular timber frame elements considering their technical, environmental and economic feasibility.
